Journey will grace the stage of my current hometown California Central Coast of Paso Robles at the California Mid-State Fair!

The latest band to join this summer's California Mid-State Fair lineup has a message for fans: Don't Stop Believing."

Classic rock band Journey is set to perform at the fair on July 23, 2009, along with the rock band Heart.

Created in 1973 by Santana alumni Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie, Journey rose to fame in the late 1970's with the songs "Wheel In The Sky" and "Lights."

The next decade saw the Bay Area band formerly fronted by lead vocalist Steve Perry and reaching new heights with such hits as "Any Way You Want It," "Who's Crying Now," "Don't Stop Believing" and "Open Arms" Massive arena concert tours and platinum record sales followed. Much of Journey's original lineup had since disbanded by 1994.

Journey hired its current singer, Arnel Pineda, in December 2007 after guitarist Neal Schon spotted the Filipino national singing Journey covers on YouTube.com.

The band now features two original members, Schon and bassist Valory Ross, as well as Jonathan Cain on keyboards and Deen Castronovo on drums.

Journey has now released 13 albums, including 2008's "Revelation," which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard charts. The band Journey has last played at the California Mid-State Fair in 2005.

Journey will be joined on the Main Grandstand Arena state by the classic rock band Heart. Fronted by sisters Ann and Nancy Wilsons, the band is best-known for such 70's hits as "Crazy On You," "Magic Man" and "Barracuda." Heart last performed at the fair in 2002.

Journey and Heart are scheduled to perform July 23 at the Paso Robles Event Center, 2189 Riverside Ave. in Paso Robles.
